Govt and RBI Set FY 2026-27 H2 Borrowing Target at ₹7,86,000 Crore

The central government, in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India, has announced a borrowing target of ₹7,86,000 crore for the second half of the fiscal year 2026-27. This borrowing will be executed through 23 weekly auctions across various maturity profiles.

- The government plans to borrow ₹7,86,000 crore in H2 of FY 2026-27 via 23 weekly auctions of dated securities.
- Total market borrowing through dated securities for the entire financial year is estimated at ₹15,99,506 crore against the budget estimate of ₹17,20,000 crore.
- Treasury bill borrowings for Q3 of FY 2026-27 are projected at ₹23,000 crore per week across 13 auction weeks.
- The Reserve Bank of India has fixed the Ways and Means Advances (WMA) limit at ₹50,000 crore for H2 FY 2026-27.
