The implementation phase of this nationwide governance drive is scheduled from October 2 to October 31, 2026.

- The preparatory window (September 16–30, 2026) mandated the appointment and training of designated nodal officers across subordinate offices, autonomous organizations, and regional field units to audit pending public grievances and Parliamentary assurances.
- During the second review meeting chaired by DARPG Secretary Vinitesh Shukla Varma, over 40 senior officials participated physically and 800+ virtually, representing 84 ministries, departments, and their extensive field networks.
- Key departments including the Department of Posts, Financial Services, Defence Production, and Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) showcased their legacy record sorting protocols and revenue generation models derived from scrap disposal during Special Campaign 5.

In-Depth Editorial & Exam Analysis
Special Campaign 6 represents a structured, institutionalized approach by the Government of India to address bureaucratic delays, reduce pendency in governance, and optimize office infrastructure through systematic cleanliness drives. Spearheaded by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the initiative moves beyond tokenism by establishing clear timelines—a robust preparation phase followed by a high-intensity implementation phase. By involving grassroots administrative units, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and autonomous bodies, the campaign ensures that productivity enhancement and space optimization permeate every tier of public administration.
Operationally, the framework relies heavily on data-driven monitoring through specialized web portals, enabling transparent tracking of parameters such as disposal of scrap, e-waste management, clearance of VIP references, and archival record management. The integration of modern administrative tools—such as digital file tracking, digitization of physical records, and 'waste-to-wealth' economic models—demonstrates a shift towards sustainable governance. Departments are encouraged not only to declutter physical workspaces but also to monetize redundant assets, thereby contributing to the exchequer while reclaiming valuable office real estate for productive utilization.
From a policy and civil services perspective, this campaign serves as a vital practical case study for governance papers in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. It highlights the significance of internal audit mechanisms, inter-ministerial coordination, and accountability in public service delivery. While challenges such as bureaucratic inertia, decentralized compliance across remote field offices, and uniform e-waste processing standards persist, rigorous periodic reviews by top-tier bureaucrats ensure momentum. Ultimately, the campaign fosters a culture of responsiveness, transparency, and environmental consciousness within the machinery of the Indian State.
